About Ivan
Ivan Crespo took a practical route into law. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Investigation from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Arecibo Campus in 1989. He later completed his J.D. at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in 1998, where his coursework centered on criminal, family and immigration law.
Early in his career he worked as an investigator at a public defender’s office in 1993. That hands-on work in the investigative trenches shaped his approach to case preparation. He moved into private practice at the end of the 1990s and served as a partner and general lawyer at FNC Consultants PSC beginning in 1999. That role broadened his exposure to client counseling and litigation management.
In 2014 he launched his own practice, Law Office of Ivan Crespo, operating as a solo practitioner. Running a solo office required him to handle a wide variety of tasks beyond courtroom work: client intake, case strategy, and the administrative duties that keep a practice running. He has also been certified as an arbitrator by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, a credential that adds a neutral dispute-resolution tool to his professional options.
His admissions cover state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in Texas and holds credentials before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and the D.C. Circuit. That range allows him to accept matters that move beyond state court and into appellate or federal venues.
Crespo’s background crosses criminal defense, family law and immigration matters. The combination of investigative experience, years in private firms, and work as a solo lawyer has given him experience in trial preparation and courtroom procedure. He maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Montgomery County Association, the Montgomery Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, The Woodlands Bar Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Camara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston, and the Asociacion Mexico-Americana. Many of those memberships began in 2015 and are listed as current.
He splits his time between client work and the administrative responsibilities of running a small firm. His practice handles criminal defense, family law and immigration cases and also offers arbitration services under his certification.
