About Irene
Irene Bassock graduated from Boston University School of Law in 1995, where she studied labor and employment law. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College in 1990. Those academic choices set the course for a practice centered on workplace law and the issues that shape employer–employee relationships.
She began practicing law in the mid-1990s and has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 1996. She also holds membership in the State Bar of Connecticut. Over the years she has worked across both states, bringing a regional perspective to matters that often cross state lines.
Bassock’s work stems from her law school concentration in labor and employment. She advises clients on workplace-related questions and handles employment disputes. Her practice blends counseling and advocacy; she spends time drafting and reviewing policies, advising on compliance, and addressing disputes when they arise. The mix of preventive and reactive work is a steady feature of her caseload.
Her professional associations include active memberships in the Massachusetts State Bar and the State Bar of Connecticut. Those memberships reflect a career spent engaged with the legal communities in both states. She participates in bar activities and stays current on developments in employment law that affect employers and employees alike.
Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic. She aims to clarify complex legal rules and present options that decision-makers can use. That style has been especially useful in workplaces that must interpret changing regulations and adjust practices accordingly.
Bassock has worked with a range of clients on matters tied to workplace law. She has handled inquiries that require both an understanding of statutory obligations and the practical realities of running an organization. Her experience makes her comfortable addressing issues that involve day-to-day employment policies as well as higher-stakes disputes.
She practices at Empower Legal Group and continues to concentrate her work on labor and employment matters and related workplace issues.
