About Ileana M
Ileana M Rivera built her legal foundation at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law, earning her J.D. in 2010. She entered the profession at a time of shifting immigration and bankruptcy practice in Puerto Rico. Early academic training gave her grounding in procedure and statutory analysis.
She moved into public-sector roles soon after graduation. In 2012 she served as an educator for the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, participating in programs that aimed to clarify court processes for attorneys and the public. The following year she worked as a law clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Those early positions exposed her to litigation practice, judicial decision-making and the mechanics of federal court procedure.
Rivera lists admissions that include the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the federal appellate courts for the 11th Circuit and the Federal Circuit. She also maintains memberships in professional organizations relevant to her practice. Since 2014 she has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Florida chapter, and she joined the Federal Bar Association the same year. Those memberships place her in frequent contact with colleagues who handle appeals, federal filings and immigration matters across state and federal lines.
Her work history and professional affiliations suggest a practice shaped by federal litigation and immigration law, together with experience in bankruptcy settings. Rivera’s time in the courtroom and in judicial education roles has given her familiarity with appellate procedure and the documentation required for federal filings. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical; she has handled client matters that required coordination across federal and territorial jurisdictions.
She currently practices at Immigration Universe. There she handles casework that commonly involves applications, petitions and federal court matters tied to immigration and related federal processes. Her background in judicial education and bankruptcy clerking continues to inform how she prepares filings and presents arguments.
Rivera remains active in bar associations tied to immigration and federal practice and continues to represent clients through Immigration Universe, where her current practice centers on immigration and federal appellate matters.
