About Ilana S.

Ilana S. Rubel earned her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1997 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at Georgetown University in 1994, where she studied English and American government. Her academic path combined humanities and public affairs. It also set the stage for a legal career that crosses state and federal lines.

Early in her career she joined Fenwick & West LLP, a firm where she spent part of her professional life. Her time there placed her in a firm environment known for handling complex legal matters for corporate clients. At Fenwick & West she worked alongside litigation and corporate teams, gaining exposure to disputes and transactional matters that required admissions in multiple courts.

Rubel holds admissions across a number of jurisdictions. She is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit and the Third Circuit. She also holds admissions in California, Washington, Illinois and Idaho, and is admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials allow her to appear in both federal and state forums and to handle appellate matters when they arise.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in courtroom preparation and precise in legal writing. She has handled filings and appearances in diverse procedural settings, from trial courts to appellate dockets. The range of jurisdictions she maintains suggests a practice that can follow clients across state lines and into federal appellate review. Her background reflects an attorney comfortable adapting to varied procedural rules and standards of review.

Outside courtroom practice she has been involved in the drafting and negotiation phases of legal work at firm level. That work required coordination across teams and attention to regulatory and contractual detail. It also required the kind of client communication that helps translate legal risks into practical options.

Rubel’s education and multi-jurisdictional admissions have shaped a practice capable of addressing matters that span local and national concerns. She remains active in matters that require appearances in the courts where she is admitted. She currently concentrates her practice on matters across the jurisdictions in which she is licensed to appear.
