About Ian M.

Ian M. Cooper built his academic foundation on the West Coast. He earned a B.A. from California State University, Humboldt State University in 1984 and went on to graduate from the University of San Francisco School of Law with a J.D. in 1992. The years in school gave him a grounding in procedure and advocacy. They also set the stage for a career concentrated in California courts.

He entered practice in the mid-1990s. Records show he was working as a lawyer at the Law Offices of John E. Hill by 1994. Since then he has maintained a practice in California. That steady presence in the state’s legal environment has included courtroom work, case preparation and advising clients on claims and hearings.

Cooper holds a Board of Legal Specialization certification in Workers' Compensation Law from the State Bar of California. That credential signals formal recognition of expertise in the state's workers' compensation system. He has also been a member of the State Bar of California and lists active membership there. Professional associations have been part of his practice life for many years; he joined the California Applicants Lawyers Association in 1997 and has been a member ever since. In 2018 he became part of the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, where he remains involved.

Colleagues and clients generally encounter him as a lawyer who handles workers’ compensation matters on the applicants’ side. His work covers claim development, administrative hearings and related litigation steps that arise when disputes over benefits or medical issues surface. He tends to manage cases from initial filing through hearing and any necessary further proceedings, working within the rules and timetables that govern California’s system.

Day to day he practices out of the Law Offices of John E. Hill. The office provides the platform for filings, hearings and client meetings. Over three decades in practice have given him repeated exposure to the practical and procedural demands of California workers’ compensation law. He remains an active member of state bar associations and local trial lawyer groups and continues to represent clients in workers’ compensation matters.

He currently practices at the Law Offices of John E. Hill, handling workers’ compensation cases for claimants and representing them through administrative and trial stages.
