About Ian B.

Ian B. Lyngklip studied at the University of Michigan–Dearborn, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1987. He later attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1992. He returned to the Detroit Mercy community years later as an adjunct instructor, teaching from 2009 to 2011.

He built his career around consumer matters and courtroom practice. He serves as a senior lawyer at Lyngklip & Associates, where he has handled consumer litigation and related disputes. He has also taken leadership roles in professional organizations. From 2006 to 2009 he was chair of the board of the National Association of Consumer Advocates. In 2000 he served as president of the State Bar of Michigan Consumer Law Section.

Lyngklip pursued formal trial training as well. He graduated from the Trial Lawyers College in August 2011, completing the program offered by that organization. He has practice experience in both state and federal forums. His admissions include the Michigan bar and several federal district courts, among them the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Northern District of Ohio, the Northern District of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, the Western District of New York, the District of Colorado, the Western District of Oklahoma and the District of Connecticut. He is also admitted to practice before the 4th, 6th and 9th U.S. Courts of Appeal.

Colleagues describe him as someone who spends much of his time preparing cases for trial and arguing disputes in court. He has combined classroom teaching with active practice, moving between academic settings and litigation work. His long involvement in consumer law organizations reflects a steady interest in that area of practice rather than a single, short-term role.

Today he continues at Lyngklip & Associates. He maintains an active practice representing consumers in state and federal courts and engaging in trial work and litigation-related advocacy.
