About Howard L
Howard L Hibbard trained first as an economist before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Vermont in 1968 and took his law degree from Southwestern Law School in 1976. Those formative years set the stage for a career rooted in transactional work and the local business community.
He joined the California Bar in 1978 and moved into private practice soon after. In 1979 he became a partner at the Law Office of Hibbard and Hibbard. A decade later he opened his own practice and has served as the lead lawyer at the Law Office of Howard L Hibbard since 1990. Over that span he has maintained a steady presence in the Bay Area legal market.
Hibbard’s professional affiliations link him closely to the real estate community. Since 2009 he has held associate membership in the San Mateo County Association of Realtors and the San Mateo Women’s Council of Realtors. Those memberships indicate long-standing connections with local brokers, agents and the issues that affect property professionals in the county.
Practically, that involvement has translated into a caseload centered on property-related matters. His work has included transactional counseling for buyers and sellers, contract review and negotiation, and routine dispute resolution tied to real estate deals. Hibbard handles matters that arise in day-to-day brokerage and ownership situations and advises clients on paperwork, compliance and closing processes.
Colleagues and clients have turned to him for straightforward legal guidance rather than litigation spectacle. He has kept his practice focused and small, preferring direct client contact and hands-on management of files. That approach has allowed him to stay connected to the local market and to respond quickly to transactional priorities when they arise.
Hibbard continues to practice in San Mateo County. He remains an active member of the California Bar and keeps his office engaged with county real estate groups. He currently directs the Law Office of Howard L Hibbard and handles matters involving real estate transactions and related legal issues.
