About Howard G.
Howard G. Goldberg is a trial lawyer who has built a career around construction law and dispute resolution. He studied at Western Maryland College, where he earned a B.A., and went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Those academic roots set the stage for a practice that blends courtroom experience with technical contract work.
After law school Goldberg entered private practice and rose to lead Goldberg & Banks, PC as its principal. His work has kept him at the intersection of lawyers, owners, contractors and design professionals. He represents clients in complex construction disputes and handles arbitration and mediation matters. He also advises on contract terms and on the drafting and interpretation of construction documents.
Goldberg’s professional affiliations reflect the two pillars of his work: litigation and construction. He holds membership in the American Bar Association and participates in the ABA’s Forum on the Construction Industry. He is active in the Maryland State Bar Association. His election to the American College of Trial Lawyers places him among a group of peers recognized for trial practice. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Construction Lawyers, a role that signals ongoing involvement in issues that shape construction law practice.
Architects and design firms have sought Goldberg’s counsel on documents and contract matters. He serves as legal counsel to the Documents Committee of the American Institute of Architects, and he holds an honorary membership in that organization. That work often involves close attention to standard form contracts and the ways those forms allocate risk among project participants.
Dispute resolution is a constant in Goldberg’s practice. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association and sits on its National Dispute Resolution Committee. That engagement keeps him connected to developments in arbitration procedure and decision-making trends. It also means he spends much of his time preparing and presenting disputes outside the courtroom as well as inside it.
Colleagues describe Goldberg as steady and pragmatic in contentious settings. He combines litigation experience with a practical knowledge of construction documents and industry practice. He leads the team at Goldberg & Banks, PC and continues to represent clients in construction-related litigation, arbitration and contract counseling matters, focusing his current practice on construction disputes and dispute resolution.
