About Hillary E.
Hillary E. Nakano came to law from a Bay Area academic background. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Those years shaped her approach to research and advocacy and grounded her in the legal traditions of California.
After law school she entered practice in the state. She is licensed to practice in California and serves as an associate at Boxer+Gerson, LLP. Her day-to-day work involves the tasks commonly entrusted to associates at a litigation firm: legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, preparing discovery, and assisting at hearings and trials.
Nakano’s professional involvement extends beyond casework. She is a member of the California Applicants Lawyers Association and of the Earl Warren Inn of Court. Those memberships connect her to statewide and local legal communities and to peers who practice in trial and appellate settings. She is also on the board of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, where her role reflects an interest in civic participation and community organizations in the region.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing files and attentive to procedural detail. She has worked on matters that required careful factual development and coordinate effort among teams of lawyers and staff. She spends a good portion of her time in motion practice and discovery management, tasks that demand organization and close attention to court rules and deadlines.
Her education at the University of San Francisco School of Law provided formal training in advocacy and ethics. She has drawn on that training in courtroom settings as well as in settlement negotiations and client counseling. Her background at UC Santa Barbara informs how she approaches complex factual narratives and client communication.
Outside the office Nakano remains engaged in community organizations and professional groups. Her board role at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California places her at the intersection of legal practice and community service. Participation in the Earl Warren Inn of Court gives her access to mentorship and practical programming for trial lawyers.
Now an associate at Boxer+Gerson, LLP, Nakano practices in California and continues to balance litigation responsibilities with professional and community involvement. She currently practices in California as an associate at Boxer+Gerson, LLP.
