About Hil
Hil Hughes built a practice that blends legal training with business education. She earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia in 2006 and followed that with graduate work in business. In 2007 she completed MBA studies at Georgia State University and at Pantheon-Sorbonne University, reflecting an interest in both domestic and international approaches to business and law.
Her early career moved between transactional work and courtroom settings. Those years sharpened an ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical advice for clients. She developed experience handling disputes, drafting agreements, and advising on regulatory questions. Colleagues describe her as methodical and direct in client matters, preferring clear options over legal jargon.
In 2015 Hughes co-founded Morrison & Hughes. The decision to establish a firm came after nearly a decade of practicing law in different environments. As a founding partner she helped set the firm’s priorities and build its client base. She has been involved in overseeing case strategy, mentoring junior attorneys, and managing firm operations.
Her practice sits at the intersection of law and business. The combination of a J.D. and MBAs gives her a perspective on transactions and disputes that considers both legal risk and commercial consequences. She often engages in negotiations, prepares corporate documentation, and represents clients in contested matters. Her courtroom work is balanced by time spent on preventive measures — drafting agreements and advising on compliance to limit future exposure.
Outside of client work Hughes maintains memberships in professional associations and participates in peer forums. She now leads a team at Morrison & Hughes, directing client representation and the firm’s legal work. Her current practice centers on representing clients and managing their matters at Morrison & Hughes.
