About Heather Manry

Heather Manry Ziemba trained as a lawyer at Vanderbilt and began building a career in immigration law not long after graduation. She arrived in the field during a period of growing demand for legal services for immigrants and spent years handling direct client work and program management in North Carolina.

Ziemba earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1993 after completing a B.A. in political science at Duke University in 1989. Those academic years set a foundation in law and policy that she later applied to the practical and often urgent problems faced by immigrant communities.

Her early professional years were spent at Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, Inc., where she served as a lawyer and program director of the Immigrant Justice Program beginning in 1997. That role combined courtroom work, client counseling and oversight of program operations. It also placed her in regular contact with community groups and other legal service providers across the region.

After leaving legal services, Ziemba took on associate lawyer roles at private immigration practices. She worked in 2007 at Aziz Law Office and later in 2009 at Garfinkel Immigration Law Office. Those positions extended her exposure to a range of immigration matters in private practice and helped her develop a caseload spanning family-based petitions, relief applications, and administrative proceedings.

In 2013 she began serving as the managing lawyer of Ziemba Law Office, PLLC. The firm is listed as her current office. Over the years she has also maintained professional ties through membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a membership she began in 2002 and continues to hold. Her peers recognize her credentials through certification: she is a Certified Specialist in Immigration Law through the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization.

Ziemba is licensed to practice in North Carolina and has spent her career working in that jurisdiction. Colleagues and clients have described her work as steady and practical; she approaches cases by breaking issues down and pursuing clear solutions. Her background in both nonprofit legal services and private practice gives her familiarity with the public and private systems that affect immigration outcomes.

She continues to practice immigration law in North Carolina, representing individuals and families on matters arising under federal immigration statutes and administrative regulations.
