About Heather

Heather Bustos earned her law degree from Florida International University College of Law, entering the program in 2011 and receiving her J.D. in 2014. She completed a curriculum that combined doctrinal coursework with practical legal training. Those formative years at FIU exposed her to courtroom procedure, legal writing and client advocacy.

After law school she became licensed to practice in Texas. She has since built experience practicing in the state’s courts and administrative forums. Her work has involved legal research, preparation of pleadings and client counseling. She has handled matters that required both litigation and negotiated resolution, and she has represented clients at hearings and in settlement discussions.

Bustos approaches cases with attention to detail and an emphasis on clear communication. She prepares for hearings and trials with careful factual review and measured legal analysis. When she writes motions or briefs she aims for clarity and economy of language. Her background in legal writing from law school carried over into practice.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in the way she develops a case file and thorough in her pre-trial preparation. She combines document review with interviews and fact-checking. That steady approach informs the choices she makes about whether to pursue aggressive motion practice or to seek negotiated outcomes.

Her courtroom experience is paired with one-on-one client work. She spends time explaining the procedural steps a client will face and outlining possible timelines. That emphasis on plain-language explanation helps clients understand trade-offs and make informed decisions.

Outside of direct client representation, she has continued to engage in legal education and professional development opportunities. She attends continuing legal education programs to stay current on changes in Texas law and procedural rules. Those programs have helped her maintain familiarity with evolving case law and statutory changes that affect daily practice.

She remains active in the Texas legal community and focuses her practice on matters handled within the state. She practices law in Texas, representing clients in the state’s courts and related administrative proceedings.
