About Heather Bradford
Heather Bradford Patterson built a path from the woods to the courtroom. She began her academic journey at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 1993. She continued that focus at Stephen F. Austin State University, completing a Master of Science in Forestry in 1998. She returned to school for law and earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 2003.
After law school, Patterson moved into private practice in Texas. Early in her legal career she joined McLeod, Alexander, Powel & Apffel, P.C. and was listed as a senior associate in 2003. That position followed directly on her graduation and marked her entry into firm-based practice. Her work there exposed her to the daily demands of client representation and case preparation in a firm setting.
A decade later she was listed as an associate at Fairchild, Price, Haley & Smith in 2013. Those years in firm roles involved research, document drafting and counsel to clients on matters that arise in commercial and property contexts. Colleagues have noted her steady approach to case work and attention to technical detail.
Patterson’s undergraduate and graduate training in forestry informs how she views legal questions tied to land and resources. The combination of science and law gives her a practical perspective on property, environmental and regulatory topics, and it often shapes the questions she pursues for clients. She is licensed to practice in Texas and maintains membership in professional organizations that serve the state’s legal community.
Today she practices law in Texas. Her practice draws on both her forestry background and her legal training when addressing matters that involve land, natural resources and related regulatory issues.
