About Harvey L.

Harvey L. Ziff is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1967. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Ziff is a partner at Ziff & Cohn, a law firm located in Los Altos, California. He has been practicing law for over fifty-eight years, serving clients throughout the Bay Area.

Mr. Ziff earned his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford University School of Law in 1967. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. He also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Northwestern University School of Law in 1969, specializing in the Advanced Criminal Law Program.

Mr. Ziff concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense law. He represents individuals in matters involving car accidents, slip and fall incidents, and other personal injury cases. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ziff has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Palo Alto for several years.

Mr. Ziff is an active member of the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association, the Palo Alto Bar Association, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the San Mateo County Bar Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California. He has been recognized as a "Northern California Super Lawyer" from 2001 to 2025, based on peer recognition and achievements in representing personal injury plaintiffs. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization limited to attorneys who have achieved million-dollar verdicts and settlements. Mr. Ziff is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Bay Area effectively.
