About Hannah

Hannah Leisman is an attorney at Gendelman Klimas, Ltd., admitted to practice in Colorado and in the District of Columbia. She brings a background in law and the humanities to her legal work. Her education combines formal legal training with graduate-level study in gender and sexuality studies, and an undergraduate grounding in literature and creative writing.

Leisman earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. Before and after law school she remained connected to George Washington University, where she completed an M.A. in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her undergraduate degree came from Calvin College, where she studied English Literature, Creative Writing and Gender Studies. Those academic experiences gave her tools for close reading, clear drafting and contextual analysis. They also shaped how she approaches research and client communication.

After law school she pursued admission to the bars in both the District of Columbia and Colorado. Those admissions allow her to practice across two different legal landscapes — urban, federal-oriented practice in D.C. and state-level matters in Colorado. She has worked at Gendelman Klimas, Ltd., a firm that handles matters in her admitted jurisdictions.

Colleagues describe Leisman as methodical and attentive to detail. She tends to favor plain language in briefs and in client conversations. That preference reflects her writing background. It also reflects a pragmatic approach to legal problems: sort the facts, frame the legal questions, and explain the options so a client can decide.

Her training in gender and sexuality studies informs how she reads statutes and policy. It gives her an awareness of how law intersects with identity and social context. She applies that perspective when researching legal issues and when preparing arguments. At the same time, her undergraduate work in creative writing encourages her to consider narrative and structure when telling a client’s story before a court or regulator.

As of 2026 Leisman continues to practice at Gendelman Klimas, Ltd., representing clients in matters across Colorado and the District of Columbia. Her current practice centers on client counseling, legal research, and litigation-related work at the firm.
