About Hannah Elizabeth
Hannah Elizabeth Brown trained as both a courtroom lawyer and a teacher. She earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2016 after completing a B.A. in Communication Research at Chapman University in 2013. Those academic years set the stage for an early career that moved quickly from clerkship to trial work and into firm leadership.
Brown began her legal career as a law clerk in 2017 for the U.S. District Courts. The clerkship exposed her to complex federal dockets and the procedural mechanics of trial courts. She carried that experience into private practice the same year she joined Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek as an associate, where she handled litigation tasks, motion practice and discovery in a range of civil matters.
By 2022 Brown added teaching to her résumé. She served as an adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, returning to the classroom to teach aspects of litigation practice to law students. The teaching role allowed her to translate courtroom lessons into practical guidance for future lawyers.
Her move to Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP culminated in her appointment as an office partner in 2023. At the firm she manages litigation teams and takes on federal and state court matters. Her practice includes cases in multiple federal districts across California—the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts—as well as the Eastern District of Michigan and the District of Colorado. She is also admitted to practice in California and Colorado.
Outside the courtroom Brown maintains memberships in professional organizations that reflect her interests. She is a member of the Federal Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association. She also participates in the Legal Network for Gender Equity. Those affiliations keep her connected to developments in federal practice and local bar initiatives.
Colleagues describe Brown as a methodical advocate who attends closely to procedure and client needs. Her background as a judicial law clerk informs how she approaches briefing and oral argument. She handles motion practice, discovery disputes and trial preparation, and she often oversees litigation strategy for team members in her office.
Brown continues to practice at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP. She focuses her practice on civil litigation in federal and state courts.
