About Hannah
Hannah Blackwell began her professional life as a student of writing and politics. She earned a B.A. from Miami University of Ohio in 2018, concentrating on professional writing and pre‑law while minoring in political science. The combination of clear prose and an interest in public service steered her toward law school.
She received her J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 2022. At DePaul she completed a Certificate of Public Interest Law, an academic track that complemented coursework and practical training oriented toward public interest practice. That credential shaped the early contours of her legal work and informed the matters she chose to take on after graduation.
Blackwell is admitted to practice in Illinois and maintains active membership in the State Bar of Illinois. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Chicago Chapter, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect the networks she uses for professional development and case resources.
After law school she established Blackwell Law, LLC. The firm operates in Illinois and handles a mix of individual and institutional clients. Blackwell keeps a compact practice model. She blends casework and client counseling rather than large firm delegation. That approach gives her a direct line to people she represents and to community organizations that seek legal guidance.
Her practice draws on both her public interest training and her work with immigration colleagues in Chicago. The kinds of matters she accepts often involve immigration and public interest issues, where procedural detail and client communication matter equally. She represents clients in filings and in proceedings, and she coordinates with local organizations when cases raise broader policy or community concerns.
Outside the office she continues to engage with professional groups around immigration and bar issues. She attends chapter meetings and participates in continuing legal education that keeps her practice current. The combination of a writing background, a public interest certificate, and active bar participation informs how she approaches cases and client relationships. Her current practice focuses on immigration and public interest matters.
