Hal David Bartholomew is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1972 and holds bar number 52996. Mr. Bartholomew earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where he graduated in 1971. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1968. During his time at UC Davis, he was actively involved in various student organizations and developed a strong foundation in legal studies.
Mr. Bartholomew concentrates his practice in the areas of family law, collaborative divorce, and mediation. He represents individuals and families in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial consultations, negotiations, mediation sessions, settlement agreements, and, when necessary, trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He is also a certified mediator, having successfully completed over 2,000 mediations in his career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bartholomew has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Sacramento for several years. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Court of Claims.
Mr. Bartholomew is an active member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, serving as the President of the Northern California Chapter in 2010. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has served on the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar of California from 1994 to 1997. Additionally, he is a founding member and past president of the Sacramento Collaborative Practice Group, an organization dedicated to promoting collaborative divorce practices. He is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Sacramento effectively.
