About Guy H.

Guy H. Haskell combines scholarly training in anthropology and languages with a later legal education. He is an attorney licensed in Indiana who brings an analytical and detail-oriented perspective to his work. His background reads like a map of studies across disciplines and decades.

He earned a B.A. in anthropology and Slavic languages and cultures from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (B.A., 1976). He went on to graduate study at Indiana University–Bloomington, completing doctoral work in anthropology and Near Eastern languages and cultures (Ph.D., 1985). Years later he completed a law degree at Indiana University Maurer School of Law (LL.B., 2004).

Those academic credentials shaped an early professional life attentive to context, text and interpretation. After finishing his legal studies he took up practice in Indiana. He is admitted to the Indiana bar and established Haskell Law. Public records list his office under that firm name.

Haskell’s work reflects the unusual mix of humanities and law on his résumé. He is practiced in reading complex written records and in handling matters where cultural or linguistic nuance can matter to proof or strategy. Colleagues describe him as methodical; clients can expect an evidence-centered approach. He has applied anthropological habits of inquiry to case preparation and legal analysis rather than to public scholarship.

His career has not followed a single, linear path. The move from doctoral research to legal training meant learning new professional norms. That transition also meant Haskell could approach disputes with a frame shaped by social science and by an understanding of language and culture. Those tools can help in depositions, documentary review and in cases that require careful parsing of testimony.

Haskell practices at Haskell Law in Indiana, where he handles matters that arise under state law and represents clients in local forums. He maintains ties to academic interests and occasionally draws on them where relevant to a client’s issue. He currently concentrates his practice on advising and representing clients in matters arising under Indiana law.
