About Gustavo Alejandro
Gustavo Alejandro Cueva earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington Tacoma campus, graduating in 2008 with a B.A. in political economy and a minor in Hispanic studies. He continued his legal education at Seattle University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2014, where he studied immigration law during his time in law school. Those academic choices set the course for a practice centered on immigration law and public policy issues.
After law school, Cueva moved directly into immigration practice. In 2014 he joined Sound Immigration as an associate attorney, beginning hands-on work with clients navigating federal immigration processes. Three years later he took an associate position at Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC. Those early years in firm environments shaped how he approaches client files and case strategy. He learned procedural rhythms and the practical demands of representing people before immigration authorities.
In 2019 Cueva launched Cueva Law Office. The firm is based in Washington, where he is admitted to practice. Running his own practice gave him the ability to set priorities for case management and client communication. He manages intake, representation and the daily operations of a small firm, balancing legal work with the administrative tasks that come with ownership.
Cueva has participated in professional organizations throughout his career. He has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2013 and lists additional professional memberships beginning in 2014. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in immigration law and to peers who handle similar matters across the country.
Colleagues describe his career path as steady and deliberate: law school study in immigration law, several years as an associate inside established practices, then transition to his own firm. He has spent more than a decade working in immigration-related roles since completing his undergraduate degree. His background in political economy and Hispanic studies informs how he frames legal problems and communicates with clients.
Today Cueva practices immigration law through Cueva Law Office in Washington. He accepts matters in the state and continues to work on immigration issues at his firm.
