About Gregory J. De

Gregory J. De Tolla earned his J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2016, where he concentrated on estate planning and intellectual property. He completed his legal studies after beginning them in 2013, and left law school with a clear set of interests that have shaped the arc of his career. That academic grounding in two distinct areas—one traditionally transactional, the other frequently technical—has informed how he approaches client work.

He entered private practice as an associate in 2019 at Devitt Spellman Barrett. There he worked as a young lawyer learning the mechanics of a law office and the demands of client representation. In 2021 he moved to Ferlito Law Group, where he continued practicing law and expanding his experience. Those years in different firm environments gave him exposure to both client counseling and the procedural side of litigation in state and federal settings.

In 2023 he founded DeTolla Law Group and took on the role of managing lawyer. The firm bears his name and serves as the platform for his practice. He is admitted to practice in New York and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, which allows him to handle matters that may arise in both state and federal venues.

Across his career he has combined interests in estate planning and intellectual property. Estate planning work often requires careful drafting and attention to client goals. Intellectual property matters require attention to legal detail and sometimes a technical understanding of creative work and intangible assets. He has applied both sets of skills to counseling individuals and small businesses, advising on documents and procedural steps that affect long-term rights and obligations.

Clients and colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic: he breaks down complex issues into concrete steps and prioritizes practical results. He has moved between associate roles and in-house responsibilities before establishing his own firm. The move to open DeTolla Law Group allowed him to bring those experiences together under one roof and to set priorities for the types of matters the practice will accept.

He currently manages DeTolla Law Group and handles matters that draw on his background in estate planning and intellectual property. His current practice focuses on estate planning and intellectual property matters.
