About Gregory A
Gregory A Richards began his academic life studying how people speak and persuade. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Baylor University in 1991. He then moved on to Texas Tech University School of Law, completing his Juris Doctor in 1994. Those years shaped both his courtroom manner and his written work.
His first legal role came immediately after law school. In 1994 he served as an assistant district lawyer in the Trinity County District Lawyer's Office. A year later he opened his own practice, operating as Gregory A. Richards, P.C., where he handled a mix of matters typical for small firms. In 2000 he joined Pattillo Richards, P.C. as a partner, a position he has held since.
Over the course of his career Richards concentrated on property and real estate matters. He sought and obtained board certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Residential Real Estate Law. That credential signals completion of a testing and experience process set by the state board. Colleagues and clients alike view board certification as an indication of focused training and substantial work in a particular area of law.
Richards’s practice has involved transactions, title issues, contract disputes and closings. He has represented buyers and sellers, drafted and reviewed conveyancing documents, and handled litigation that sprang from residential closings. His background in trial work from his district lawyer days informs how he assesses risk when a deal turns contentious. He tends to weigh practical outcomes alongside legal theory, aiming to resolve title defects and contractual disputes before they escalate to more costly litigation.
He maintains current professional memberships and practices under Texas law. His work has been anchored in state rules and procedures, and he has built a practice that reflects the contours of Texas property law. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in negotiation and methodical in document preparation.
Today Richards is a partner at Pattillo Richards, P.C., where he continues to handle residential real estate matters across Texas. His current practice concentrates on residential real estate matters in Texas.
