About Greggory

Hockemeyer earned his Bachelor of Arts with honors from Wabash College in 1985, majoring in English, Speech, and Theater. His academic achievements laid a solid foundation for his future endeavors in law. Following his undergraduate studies, he pursued a Juris Doctor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, graduating in 1989. During his time in law school, he worked working for Indiana Attorney General Lin Pearson, where he developed his legal skills and developed a keen understanding of state law. After completing his legal education, Hockemeyer began his career with the City of Indianapolis as an attorney in the Department of Metropolitan Development. This role allowed him to engage with various aspects of municipal law and gain practical experience in legal matters affecting urban development.

In 1992, he returned to Whitley County to enter private practice, where he continued to build his legal career. By 1995, he joined forces with Attorney Jon Myers to establish a law partnership, which later became known as Myers Hockemeyer & McNagny, LLP. This partnership has since become a prominent legal practice in the region. Throughout his career, Hockemeyer has been actively involved in municipal law, representing the Towns of Larwill and South Whitley. His expertise in local governance and legal matters has made him a trusted advisor in these communities. Additionally, he served as Deputy City Attorney for Columbia City, where he contributed to various legal initiatives and community projects. From 1992 through 2007, Hockemeyer was the attorney for the Whitley County Office of Family and Children, now known as the Department of Child Services.

This role involved navigating complex family law issues and advocating for the welfare of children in the community. In addition to his legal practice, Hockemeyer is a certified civil mediator, a designation he has held since 1992. This certification shows his commitment to alternative dispute resolution and his ability to facilitate negotiations between parties. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Whitley County Bar Association, the Indiana Municipal Lawyers Association, the Indiana Public Defender Council, and the Indiana State Bar Association. His involvement in these organizations reflects his dedication to staying informed about legal developments and contributing to the legal community. Hockemeyer is also committed to community service, participating in various organizations that aim to improve the lives of residents in Whitley County. He is an active member of the Whitley County Child Protection Team, which focuses on safeguarding children and preventing abuse.

Additionally, he contributes to Whitley County Drug-Free Indiana, promoting awareness and prevention of substance abuse. His role on the Peabody Public Library Board of Trustees highlights his dedication to education and literacy. His involvement with the local Community Corrections Advisory Board demonstrates his commitment to criminal justice reform and rehabilitation. Through these efforts, Hockemeyer continues to make a positive impact in his community.
