About Greg

Greg Sletteland built his academic foundation at UCLA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business-Economics in 1996. He went on to Vanderbilt University Law School and received his Juris Doctor in 2007. His legal studies at Vanderbilt included concentrated study in bankruptcy and patent law, reflecting an interest in the intersection of business and technology.

At law school he studied subjects that bridge commercial and technical disputes. The record shows coursework in bankruptcy and patent matters. Those areas remained central to his professional narrative after graduation. He entered practice with that dual background in mind and carried it forward into his work.

Throughout his career he has handled matters that require both legal analysis and an understanding of business realities. He has been involved in cases and transactions where creditor and debtor concerns meet intellectual property questions. That combination frequently surfaces when companies with patented technology face financial distress, and his background equips him to address the overlap between reorganizations and IP assets.

Sletteland’s work touches several practical legal skills. He has experience in restructuring contexts, claims involving patents, and negotiations around licensing and asset sales. He has taken part in litigation and advisory work that required translating technical patent issues into practical business terms for clients, courts, and opposing parties.

Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic. He tends to break complex problems into simpler components. He focuses on the legal issues that drive business decisions rather than procedural bells and whistles. That orientation helps in both contested cases and negotiated resolutions.

Outside of direct case work, Sletteland’s training in both economics and law gives him a cross-disciplinary perspective. That background informs how he evaluates the value of intellectual property when it is part of a bankruptcy estate, or how commercial realities shape patent enforcement strategies.

As of 2026, he continues to practice in areas that lie at the meeting point of business distress and technical innovation. He currently focuses his practice on bankruptcy and patent-related matters.
