About Gray R

Gray R Proctor earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2007. He completed a rigorous legal education in Nashville and left law school prepared for work on both trial and appellate dockets. The Vanderbilt credential is the anchor of a career that moved quickly into federal courtrooms.

He began his post-law school career in federal courts. In 2007 he served as a law clerk for U.S. District Courts, supporting judges on a range of civil and criminal matters. That early courtroom exposure gave him practical experience in motion practice and courtroom procedure. In 2010 he served as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The appellate clerkship deepened his understanding of appellate briefs, oral argument, and the dynamics of precedent.

After those clerkships he transitioned into private practice. In 2012 he launched the Law Office of Gray R. Proctor. He has operated that office since then. Running a small firm required shifting from staff roles to responsibilities that include case intake, client counseling, and managing litigation calendars. He has overseen matters through trial courts and into the appellate process when appeals were necessary.

Proctor is admitted to practice in Georgia and Florida. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and appears in the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits. Those admissions reflect a practice that regularly engages appellate courts. The combination of district court and appellate clerkships early in his career informs how he handles procedural challenges and prepares appellate filings.

Throughout his career he has maintained memberships in professional organizations and stayed engaged with peers in the bar. That network supports referrals and collaboration on complex matters. He keeps a hands-on role in cases coming through his office and handles both client-facing work and courtroom advocacy.

The Law Office of Gray R. Proctor is based in a single-office practice model. Proctor manages daily operations while directing the office’s litigation strategy. He continues to represent clients in the jurisdictions where he is admitted and to handle matters that advance through trial courts and appellate panels. He currently practices at the Law Office of Gray R. Proctor, handling matters in the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
