About Gordon George
Gordon George Kaplan is a former attorney who was admitted to practice law in California in 1999. He held California State. His license was resigned in December 2024, and he is no longer eligible to practice law in California. Prior to his resignation, Mr. Kaplan maintained a law office at 765 South Nardo Avenue, Solana Beach, California. He was also admitted to practice in Illinois and the District of Columbia, with his Illinois license expiring in 2000 and his District of Columbia license expiring in 2000. Mr.
Kaplan's practice areas included business and international law, with a focus on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. He provided general counsel advice and representation to companies and entrepreneurial private clients in these areas. Mr. Kaplan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law. He furthered his legal education with postgraduate studies in international business law at The George Washington University Law School in 1966 and conducted graduate research in international economic law as a Ph.D. candidate at University College London from 1970 to 1973. Throughout his career, Mr.
Kaplan held various positions, including partner in a U.S. international law firm based in London, general counsel and co-founder of Tracker Network PLC, and vice president and general counsel for Halco Mining and Citicorp Leasing International. He also served as a Foreign Service officer with the U.S. State Department, representing U.S. interests in Senegal, Mauritania, and Belgium, and advising on international trade agreements. Mr. Kaplan was a member of the California State Bar and was admitted to practice in Illinois and the District of Columbia.
He was also a member of the American Bar Association. He was fluent in English and French, which facilitated his international legal work. Mr. Kaplan passed away on April 16, 2011, at the age of 87. He was survived by his wife, Alice Kaplan, and their children and grandchildren.
