About Gordon

Gordon Gates is a Social Security disability attorney based in Saco, Maine. He has been practicing law in Maine since 1991, focusing exclusively on Social Security disability and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cases. His office is located at 110 Main Street, Suite 1404, Saco, ME 04072. Mr. Gates earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law in 1988.

He graduated magna cum laude and served as Senior Articles Editor of the Tulane Law Review. Prior to law school, he attended Maine Maritime Academy from 1978 to 1982. Since 2005, Mr. Gates has concentrated his practice on Social Security disability and SSI claims, assisting clients with initial applications, appeals of denied claims, and hearings before administrative law judges. He has successfully appealed unfavorable decisions to the Social Security Appeals Council and the U.S.

District Court for the District of Maine, resulting in remands for new hearings. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Gates is the publisher of "Social Security Disability Lawyer," a nationally-read legal blog. He has also presented at conferences of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) on topics related to Social Security disability law. Mr.
