About Gordon B. Conn

Gordon B. Conn Jr. came to law school after a liberal arts education and a year of steady study. He earned a B.A. in political science from Macalester College in 1963 and then took his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1967. Those years shaped a practice rooted in commercial law and courtroom work. He trained in a traditional classroom and then moved into the practical pace of a law office.

His early professional life included a long stint at Faegre & Benson, where he joined as an associate in 1971 and rose to partner. That period gave him exposure to large-firm litigation and corporate representations. He later moved into firm leadership. In 1999 he served as managing partner of Kalina, Wills, Gisvold & Clark, P.L.L.P. The title reflects a turn toward overseeing firm operations as well as client matters.

Conn carries a specialty credential in bankruptcy. He is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. That certification signals experience in Chapter 11 reorganizations and related insolvency proceedings. He is licensed in Minnesota and admitted to practice before the Eighth Circuit, where he has argued appellate and bankruptcy-related matters.

Outside the courtroom he has taken on organizational roles. He has served on the board of the Land of Lakes Choirboys and is noted as vice-president of that board from 2009 onward. He also holds long-standing membership in Torske Klubben since 1990. Those affiliations reflect an interest in community institutions and a steady connection to local cultural life.

His career spans decades of changes in practice and procedure. He has handled corporate bankruptcy work, creditor and debtor representations, and litigation that touches on commercial disputes. He has moved between the detailed work of case preparation and the administrative demands of firm leadership. Clients and colleagues have encountered him in trials, negotiations, and appellate filings.

He continues to maintain an active practice in Minnesota and before the Eighth Circuit. His work centers on business bankruptcy matters.
