About Gonzalo

Gonzalo Gomez built his legal foundation in the Midwest. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University in 1997 and attended Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2003. Those years set the stage for a career anchored in state and local courts.

He is licensed to practice in Illinois and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court. Over the years he has handled matters across a broad swath of the region, regularly appearing in Cook, Will, Kankakee, Grundy, Kendall, DuPage, Kane, McHenry and Lake counties. That geographic reach has shaped how he manages cases and schedules hearings.

Gomez began his professional life after law school in roles that exposed him to courtroom work and client counseling. He has been an active member of the Chicago legal community since at least the mid-2000s. He joined the Chicago Bar Association in 2004 and later became involved with the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois in 2016. Those memberships have kept him connected to peers and to developments in state practice and procedure.

In court he handles contested hearings and settlement conferences. He is familiar with local judges and clerks in the counties where he practices. That practical knowledge informs case strategy. He represents clients in family law disputes, addressing custody, support, property division and related procedural matters. He tends to take on matters that require careful timing and coordination across multiple courtrooms.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and steady. His courtroom approach is straightforward. He prepares for hearings with an eye toward clarity and efficiency. He often drafts motions and prepares evidence that can be presented succinctly to judges who manage heavy dockets.

Outside of litigation, he has spent time on client counseling and negotiating settlements. He works with clients to explain options and to map out realistic paths through the legal process. That practical orientation helps clients who are navigating emotional and financial uncertainties.

Gomez practices at Divorce Law Offices of Wakenight & Associates, P.C., where he handles family law matters across northeast Illinois. He continues to represent clients in both contested and negotiated matters throughout the counties where he is admitted to practice. His current practice concentrates on family law at Divorce Law Offices of Wakenight & Associates, P.C.
