About Glenn
Glenn Monserrat began his professional trajectory in the world of classical music and later turned to law. He earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of New Mexico in 1988, a Master of Music from the University of Arizona in 1993, and completed additional postgraduate study in classical music at Indiana University-Bloomington the same year. After more than a decade rooted in music, he returned to formal study and earned a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in 2004, followed by an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law in 2007.
Those academic choices shaped an uncommon legal profile. The musical training taught him an attention to detail and habits of disciplined analysis. The law degrees added specialized knowledge in tax law, and the LL.M. directly prepared him for work on federal tax matters. He is admitted to practice in both Arizona and Washington, which allows him to handle matters across two jurisdictional lines.
Early in his legal career he joined the University of Washington Federal Tax Clinic pro bono panel. That work exposed him to taxpayer representation and the procedural side of federal tax disputes. In 2008 he began working through Monserrat Law Office PLLC, where he has handled an array of tax-related matters for individuals and small entities. His casework has included representation before administrative tax bodies and advising clients on tax compliance and dispute resolution.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He breaks complex tax rules into tractable pieces and lays out options for clients in plain language. He also draws on an eclectic background; the precision required for classical performance often appears in how he prepares filings and organizes documentation. He is comfortable in both advisory roles and in advocacy when contested matters move to hearings.
Outside of direct client work, Monserrat’s experience on a federal tax clinic panel signals an interest in access to tax representation. That role involved pro bono assistance to taxpayers who otherwise would have limited resources for federal tax disputes. It is one example of the kinds of practical settings in which he has applied his LL.M. training.
Today he practices through Monserrat Law Office PLLC, licensed in Arizona and Washington, where his work centers on federal and state tax matters, counsel for individuals, and representation of small businesses.
