About Gina
Gina Couri-Cyphers built her legal foundation in Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011, then completed her law degree at Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale in 2014. Those years shaped her interest in public service and introduced her to courtroom work.
Her early legal experience included a volunteer stint at the SIU Self Help Legal Center in 2012 and a 2013 internship at the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office. Those roles put her in contact with clients who could not always navigate the system alone. She began her post-law school career as an associate at Sorling Northrup in 2014, where she handled day-to-day tasks common to early litigation practice and learned the mechanics of case preparation.
Couri-Cyphers later joined Kanoski & Bresney, where she is listed as a lawyer across multiple Illinois offices. Her resume shows work in Bloomington, Springfield, Rushville, Pekin, Champaign, Quincy, Macomb and Decatur. Moving between locations has given her exposure to a variety of local court calendars, judges and practice environments.
She is admitted to practice in Illinois and in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. She also maintains memberships in the McLean County Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations keep her plugged into regional bar activities and continuing legal education opportunities.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing matters for court and attentive in client meetings. Her background—law school clinics, a county prosecutor’s office internship and experience at both a regional firm and a larger practice—has produced a practical grasp of litigation tasks from filing pleadings to managing discovery. She regularly appears in state and federal court settings appropriate to her admissions.
She practices at Kanoski & Bresney and handles legal matters for clients across the firm’s Illinois offices, representing clients in state and federal court proceedings.
