About Giancarla
Giancarla Sambo moves between courtrooms and creative sets. She has built a career that crosses entertainment, corporate law and public service. Her path is readable in her degrees and in the variety of roles she has taken over two decades.
She began in the classroom. She earned a B.A. in Media Studies and Sociology from Fordham University. She then completed a J.D. at Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where she concentrated in contracts. She added an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from New York University and later completed an LL.M. in Entertainment & New Media Law at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Those qualifications reflect a blend of legal training and media-oriented study.
Her early work included a stint as a legislative assistant for the Puerto Rico Senate in 2002. She entered private practice in the mid-2000s and in 2006 began operating under the Law Offices of Giancarla Sambo as an entertainment and business/corporate lawyer. In 2009 she served as president and executive director of the Miss America Organization’s Puerto Rico chapter, acting as both entertainment lawyer and talent representative. Her résumé also lists a role as legal staff in 2017 at a law office, a position that added to her on-the-ground experience in legal practice.
Sambo is admitted to practice in several jurisdictions, including the District of Columbia, New York and Puerto Rico. She is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit. Her professional toolkit includes practice-ready certification on Lexis Advance, and a set of proficiencies from Thomson Reuters in employment law, environmental law research and general legal research. She also holds a citation proficiency from the Association of Legal Writing Directors.
Her bar and professional memberships include the New York State Bar, which she joined in 2019 and retains; the District of Columbia Bar, a member since 2018; and the Consumer Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, where she has held membership since 2018. She was a member of the American Bar Association from 2011 through 2019. These affiliations reflect a practice that crosses state and subject-matter lines.
Sambo’s work sits at the intersection of media and law. She handles transactional and corporate matters for clients in entertainment, represents talent, and takes on litigation matters that reach federal appellate levels.
