About George William
George William Swartz is a Pennsylvania-licensed lawyer who has spent more than two decades practicing family law in and around York County. He completed a B.S. at West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2005. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar the same year and maintains an active license.
He began his legal career at Mooney Law in 2005. Early on he handled courtroom work and client counseling, tasks that exposed him to the practical pressures families face during divorce and custody disputes. Over time he took on increasingly complex matters, both contested and negotiated, and built a practice rooted in state family law procedures and local court dynamics.
Colleagues and local lawyers know him for steady courtroom demeanor and a willingness to take a case to trial when necessary. He has represented clients in divorce proceedings, child custody and support hearings, equitable distribution matters, and protection-from-abuse cases. He also appears in pretrial conferences and settlement negotiations, and he prepares the motions and financial presentations that these cases often require.
Outside of case work, he has taken on leadership roles within the local bar. He currently serves as president of the Family Law Section of the York County Bar Association. In that capacity he organizes educational programs for fellow practitioners, helps coordinate section meetings, and works to keep family law attorneys in the county informed about procedural changes and court practices.
His approach to cases emphasizes preparation and clarity. He aims to present clients with practical options and to explain procedural steps in plain terms. He invests time in gathering documents and building timelines, and he works with financial and mental health professionals when a matter benefits from outside expertise. These choices inform the way he frames negotiable issues and prepares for hearings.
Clients find him in local family courts and at his office, where he continues to accept new family law matters. He also returns to the bar association to mentor younger lawyers and to participate in continuing legal education programs. He remains based in Pennsylvania and continues to practice family law matters in state courts.
He currently practices at Mooney Law and focuses his work on family law, including divorce, custody, support, and related proceedings.
