About George
George Nolan studied history and the law in the Southeast before settling into a long legal career in Tennessee. He earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1988 and completed his J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991. Those years set the foundation for courtroom work and firm practice that would follow.
He began his legal career in 1991 as an associate at Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry, PLC. He rose to partner at that firm in 1997 and built a practice handling complex litigation matters. Over time his role expanded beyond casework to include client development and firm leadership responsibilities. That arc led him to a leadership position at Bulso & Nolan, PLC, where he now serves as a firm leader.
Nolan is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Those admissions reflect steady engagement in both state and federal litigation. He has been active in professional organizations since the early 1990s. His memberships include the Tennessee State Bar, the Nashville Bar Association, and the Tennessee Bar Association. He has also been a member of the Tennessee Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice since 1991.
Colleagues describe Nolan as a lawyer who prefers clear arguments and practical preparation. He takes cases to trial and handles pretrial motion practice. He works directly with clients, fact witnesses and expert witnesses to build cases for hearing and trial. He has navigated a range of civil matters in Tennessee courts and in federal venues that cover the region.
Outside of the courtroom, Nolan’s practice reflects long ties to the Nashville legal community. He participates in bar activities through local and state groups and maintains connections with national trial lawyer organizations. Those affiliations have kept him close to changes in procedure and evidence law affecting civil litigation in the Sixth Circuit and in Tennessee.
Over more than three decades in practice, Nolan has balanced litigation, firm leadership and bar involvement. He continues to lead at Bulso & Nolan, PLC, handling civil litigation in state and federal courts. He concentrates his practice on civil litigation, representing clients in Tennessee and before federal tribunals.
