About George K
George K Gomez built his legal foundation at Syracuse University College of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 2013. He moved into public service immediately after law school, taking a post as an Assistant District Lawyer in Bronx County the same year. That early courtroom exposure shaped the practical side of his practice and gave him steady trial experience from the outset.
After several years in public prosecution, Gomez shifted to private practice. He joined Herssein Law Group as an associate in 2017. That role exposed him to immigration matters in a different setting and to clients outside the criminal justice system. In 2019 he became a senior associate at The Law Office of Rhonda F. Gelfman, P.A., where he handled more complex immigration cases and took on increased responsibility for case management.
In 2021 Gomez launched his own firm, The Law Office of George K. Gomez, P.A., where he serves as managing lawyer. Running a small firm required him to take on administrative duties as well as client work. He continues to appear before immigration adjudicators and manages a docket that ranges from family-based petitions to removal defense.
Gomez is licensed to practice before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and is admitted in New York and Florida. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in both federal immigration proceedings and in state-level matters. He maintains an active membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, which keeps him connected to developments in immigration law and practice.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in court and methodical in preparation. He balances courtroom work with paperwork and client interviews. His career path—from a Bronx county prosecutor to the head of his own immigration practice—reflects a shift toward immigration law while retaining the courtroom experience he gained early on.
Gomez handles a range of immigration matters, including removal defense, adjustment of status, and petitions on behalf of families. He splits time between litigation in immigration courts and client counseling. His current practice concentrates on immigration law and representation before the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
