About George

George Heym earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1995. He arrived in law after a traditional course of study and began building a practice grounded in courtroom work and client counsel. The law school years preceded a steady climb into public service and later private practice.

Early in his career he worked in the Allegheny County District Lawyer's Office. In 1999 he served as an Assistant District Lawyer there, gaining hands-on experience in criminal proceedings and courtroom procedure. That job placed him on the front lines of prosecutorial work and gave him frequent opportunities to try cases, handle evidentiary matters and interact with judges and investigators.

Those years in public office shaped his approach to litigation. He learned how prosecutions are built and how defenses can be mounted. That perspective informs his later work defending people accused of driving under the influence and related offenses. It also provides a familiarity with local court systems around Pittsburgh and the broader Pennsylvania judiciary.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar. That membership, current as of 2026, reflects his standing to practice in Pennsylvania courts. Over time he has focused on the subset of criminal law that involves impaired-driving allegations, traffic cases and the collateral consequences those charges can carry for licenses, employment and insurance.

In private practice he markets himself primarily as a DUI lawyer in Pittsburgh. Cases handled range from first-offense impaired-driving matters to more complex situations involving breath and blood testing, field sobriety evaluations and administrative license hearings. He represents clients at arraignments and pretrial conferences and in trials when cases proceed that far.

His work style is straightforward. He prepares for hearings, scrutinizes police reports and consults experts when technical issues about testing or procedure arise. He also advises clients about potential penalties, diversion options where available and the practical implications of plea offers.

Today he operates out of an office in Pittsburgh under the name Pittsburgh DUI Lawyer George Heym. He continues to practice in Pennsylvania courts and focuses his current practice on DUI and related traffic-defense matters.
