About George Herbert
George Herbert Brauchler is a attorney and public servant based in Centennial, Colorado. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School in 1995, following a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. His legal career spans over three decades, marked by significant roles in both the public and private sectors. In 2013, Brauchler was elected as the District Attorney for Colorado's 18th Judicial District, encompassing Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties. He was re-elected in 2016, serving until 2021. During his tenure, he prosecuted high-profile cases, including the Aurora theater shooting and the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting.
His leadership was recognized with the Richard Schaden Adopted Alumnus Award from the University of Colorado Law School in 2022. Beyond his prosecutorial work, Brauchler has an extensive military background. He serves as a Colonel in the Colorado Army National Guard, where he has held positions such as Chief of Military Justice and Regional Defense Counsel. His military service includes deployments to Iraq, where he served as the Chief of Military Justice for the 4th Infantry Division and the U.S. Division-North in Tikrit. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S.
Army War College. In 2021, Brauchler transitioned to the private sector, founding Brauchler LLC, a law firm based in Centennial. He also assumed the role of President at Advance Colorado, a conservative advocacy group. Additionally, he has been an adjunct professor at the University of Denver College of Law since 2002, teaching courses in litigation technology and jury selection. Brauchler's contributions to the legal community have been recognized with multiple selections as a Super Lawyer and as a Best Lawyer in 2023. He has also been inducted into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame for his business ethics and innovation.
His community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Denver Police Foundation, Home Builder’s Foundation, and Scouting. In January 2025, Brauchler was sworn in as the District Attorney for Colorado's newly established 23rd Judicial District, which includes Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties. This district is the first new judicial district in Colorado in over 60 years. His experience and leadership in the legal field continue to serve the residents of Colorado.
