Geoffrey Dylan Puryear is a seasoned criminal defense attorney based in Lubbock, Texas — He earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2007. Following his graduation, he was admitted to the State Bar of Texas on November 2, 2007. Puryear's commitment to the law began early, influenced by his Texan heritage as a sixth-generation Texan. His family has called Texas home for over 150 years, and he was born in Lubbock, where he later graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Texas State University in 2004. After entering the legal profession, Puryear served as an Assistant District Attorney in both Travis and Williamson counties. During this time, he handled numerous complex felony cases, gaining experience in the courtroom.
His dedication and skill in criminal law did not go unnoticed. In 2019, Governor Greg Abbott appointed him to the 460th Judicial District Court in Travis County, a significant role that allowed him to influence the judicial process. He served on the bench until December 31, 2020, after which he returned to private practice. In 2021, Puryear founded The Geoffrey Puryear Law Firm PLLC in Lubbock, focusing exclusively on criminal defense.
