About Genevieve M
Genevieve M Binnie earned her J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 2014 after completing a B.S. in psychology and biology at Loyola University Chicago in 2010. Her academic path combined social science and scientific training before she turned to law. She finished law school the same year she joined the State Bar of Illinois and began working in Chicago-area firms.
Her first post-law school position was a law clerk role at Weiman Silberman, LLC in 2014. The clerkship offered courtroom exposure and practical experience handling filings and client communications. A year later she transitioned into family law practice as an associate at Braun and Edwards, Chartered. There she handled divorce, custody, and support matters and learned to manage cases from intake through trial readiness.
In 2019 she joined Anderson Boback & Marshall and took on a leadership role as a partner. Over time she added case strategy and client counseling to her day-to-day responsibilities. Her move to partnership broadened her administrative duties while keeping her closely connected to courtroom practice and negotiation.
Binnie completed a fellowship program through the Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center, an experience that deepened her understanding of complex family law issues and the wider policy context that affects clients. She has maintained active membership in the State Bar of Illinois since 2014. That continuous membership reflects a steady presence in the Illinois legal community.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and direct in client communication. She typically handles contested divorces, parenting time disputes, and financial issues arising from family dissolution. Her background in psychology and biology surfaces when assessing expert testimony and when explaining technical information to judges and juries.
Her courtroom work has included contested hearings and negotiated settlements. She prepares trial materials, supervises discovery, and works with forensic accountants and child specialists when cases require additional expertise. She also drafts settlement agreements and post-decree motions when clients need modifications or enforcement of existing orders.
Binnie lives and practices in Illinois and maintains an active license through the State Bar of Illinois. She manages casework at Anderson Boback & Marshall while handling both litigation and negotiated resolutions. She currently concentrates on family law matters.
