In this capacity, he represented the IRS in U.S. Tax Court and provided legal advice to IRS personnel. His role included advising Criminal Special Agents on the development and referral of criminal tax cases, as well as serving as the IRS Chief Counsel liaison to the Los Angeles Office of the Taxpayer Advocate. After his tenure with the IRS, Mr. Slavett joined Deloitte & Touche's Tax Controversy Group in Los Angeles. As a Senior Manager, he represented various clients, including Fortune 500 companies, a professional sports team, and a television personality.
His experience also extends to regional real estate and construction firms, showcasing his versatility in handling tax matters across multiple industries. In addition to his practice, Mr. Slavett is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association. His expertise is recognized; he was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Southern California in 2017. Furthermore, he has contributed to the education of future tax professionals by serving as an adjunct professor of tax law at Golden Gate University School of Tax.
