About Gary Francis Kennedy
Gary Francis Kennedy II grew up studying politics and history and carried that interest into law school. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University, majoring in political science and taking minors in economics and history. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where he studied litigation and courtroom practice.
After law school, Kennedy built a practice in Michigan courts. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and has worked as a litigating lawyer and counselor to individuals and small businesses. Early in his career he handled matters that required courtroom appearances and contested hearings. Over time he expanded the types of disputes he managed, applying trial experience to case preparation and client strategy.
Kennedy’s work draws on both the analytical training of his undergraduate studies and the tactical lessons from law school litigation courses. He has handled pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trials. He is comfortable in administrative hearings as well as county and state court settings. His approach tends to be pragmatic: assess the client’s immediate needs, outline options, and move toward resolution by negotiation or litigation when necessary.
Clients often encounter him on the calendar for pretrial conferences or hearings. He prepares evidence, drafts briefs, and argues motions. Outside the courtroom he spends time explaining the legal process, risks, and likely outcomes so clients can make informed choices. He also assists clients in preparing for mediation and settlement discussions when those paths are appropriate.
Kennedy runs his own practice as Lawyer/Owner. He manages case intake, client communications, and the daily operations that keep a small law office functioning. That role requires shifting between litigation tasks and the administrative side of the business, from calendaring deadlines to supervising case files.
He continues to live and work in Michigan. His background in political science and litigation informs how he evaluates disputes and presents them in court. He is currently practicing as a Lawyer/Owner in Michigan and represents clients in litigation and related matters in state courts.
