About Garrick Alcarez

Garrick Alcarez Sevilla built his legal foundation at Duke. He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and mathematics from Duke University and continued there for law school, receiving his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Those years established a base in analytical thinking and legal reasoning that would shape his career.

His early post-law school years followed a common path for appellate-minded lawyers. He clerked for Judge Janice Rogers Brown on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2007. He then entered private practice as an associate at Ellis & Winters LLP in 2008. In 2010 he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Samuel A. Alito, Jr. at the Supreme Court of the United States, an experience that exposed him to high-stakes appellate work and complex federal questions.

After his Supreme Court clerkship he returned to firm practice. In 2011 he joined Williams Mullen as an associate, where he handled matters typical of a mid‑Atlantic law firm practice. He moved in-house in 2014, serving as special counsel at GE. That role added corporate counsel responsibilities to his resume and broadened his exposure to business and regulatory issues.

In 2017 he became a partner at Bishop & Sevilla LLP. The move marked a return to private practice and to a leadership role. Over the years he has combined courtroom experience, appellate work and in-house perspective. That mix informs how he approaches litigation strategy and client counseling.

Sevilla is admitted to practice in North Carolina. His background includes federal appellate clerkships and positions at both law firms and an in-house legal department. Those experiences have given him familiarity with appellate briefing, federal procedure, and corporate legal problems. Colleagues note the steadiness that often follows someone who has written for judges at multiple levels of the federal system.

He is a partner at Bishop & Sevilla LLP in North Carolina. He currently practices at Bishop & Sevilla LLP in North Carolina, drawing on his experience in appellate clerkships, private law firms and in-house counsel roles in his current practice focus.
