About G. Neil
G. Neil Ripley is an attorney at Croessmann & Westberg who brings a recent but varied set of courtroom and government experiences to his work. He took a nontraditional path through law school, combining classroom study with hands-on placements in federal and local legal offices. The result is a lawyer comfortable in both state and federal settings.
Ripley completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, earning a B.A. in Government with a concentration in Political Theory. He then attended Wake Forest University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2019. Those academic years included multiple placements that shaped his practical skills and courtroom instincts.
While in law school he served as a judicial extern for the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He spent summers and semesters as a legal intern at the Federal Public Defender’s Office, at Morrow Porter Vermitsky & Taylor PLLC, and at the Durham County District Attorney’s Office. Before law school he worked as a paralegal at the U.S. Department of Justice. Each role exposed him to different facets of litigation and procedure, from trial preparation to appellate briefing.
After graduating, Ripley joined the North Carolina Bar and the American Inns of Court, among other professional organizations. He is also a member of the Forsyth County Bar Association. He holds admission to practice in North Carolina and the District of Columbia, and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Those admissions allow him to appear in both local and federal forums.
Ripley’s early career has focused on building courtroom experience and a practical understanding of litigation practice. His time with a federal public defender placed him on the defense side of criminal matters. Work at a district attorney’s office gave him perspective from the prosecutorial bench. Positions at private firms and at the Court of Federal Claims added civil and federal procedural dimensions to his résumé.
He joined Croessmann & Westberg as counsel in 2024. At the firm he applies the procedural knowledge and trial-room experience he accumulated in internships and early government roles. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in the courtroom.
Ripley maintains memberships in local and statewide bar groups and participates in programs of the American Inns of Court. He currently concentrates his practice on litigation in state and federal courts.
