During his time at Washburn University School of Law, he organized and volunteered at the law school's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site, gaining practical experience in tax law and client service.

He has also appeared before the United States Supreme Court. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a consumer law firm in San Jose for several years.
