About Frederick
Frederick Long took a steady, conventional path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from Gonzaga University in 2014. He then continued his studies at the University of Wyoming College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2017. Those years shaped his interest in how government and courts intersect.
His early legal work began while he was still in law school. In 2016 he served as a law clerk at Bell, Gould, Linder & Scott P.C., the firm where he continued after graduation. In 2017 he moved into an attorney role at the same firm. The work there exposed him to a range of matters and the day-to-day practice of a regional law office.
Long is admitted to practice in both Colorado and Wyoming. He maintains professional ties in the communities where he works. Locally, he holds membership in the Larimer County Bar Association and serves on the board of the Larimer County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. He is also a member of the American Bar Association.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in his case preparation and deliberate in courtroom settings. He approaches research and writing with attention to detail. He prefers to let the record and precedent guide his arguments rather than rely on broad rhetoric.
Outside of individual matters, Long has participated in bar activities aimed at newer attorneys. His role on the young lawyers board involves organizing programs and offering peer support to lawyers early in their careers. Those activities keep him connected to legal education and local practice trends.
The arc of his career so far is straightforward: solid academic preparation, hands-on experience as a clerk, and a transition to practicing lawyer at the same firm. He continues to work on cases that arise in the Rocky Mountain region and balances courtroom work with client counseling.
He practices law in Colorado and Wyoming and maintains an active role in local bar organizations while handling matters that cross those state lines.
