About Fakiha

Fakiha Khan built an academic path that crossed disciplines and institutions. She earned a B.A. in English and Middle East Studies from Emory University in 1993. She returned to the classroom more than a decade later for a J.D. from The University of Georgia School of Law in 1998, and then continued academic study with an M.A. in International Relations from New York University in 2006. The sequence shows an early grounding in the humanities followed by formal legal training and a later interest in international affairs.

Her legal career contains a series of court-centered roles that shaped her approach to practice. After law school she joined the staff of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2001, where she worked on appellate matters for the federal circuit. She later served as an associate at Love Willingham Peters Gilleland & Monyak LLP in 2003, returning to court-side work as a senior law clerk at Dekalb County State Court in 2005. By 2008 she had experience on both sides of appellate benches: she worked as a staff lawyer for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and taught as an adjunct professor at New York University that same year.

In 2010 she opened her own practice as the principal lawyer at the Law Offices of Fakiha Khan. The move to private practice followed years immersed in the mechanics of appellate procedure, trial court operations and legal research. Her background includes drafting opinions, preparing appellate briefs and managing complex filings, tasks she handled during her years in judicial and clerking positions.

She is admitted to practice in Georgia and New York, and she has worked in matters before the Second Circuit. That appellate exposure has influenced the kinds of matters she pursues and the way she approaches case preparation. Colleagues and clients have noted her steady courtroom experience and her familiarity with federal and state appellate rules.

Her practice combines litigation work and appellate practice, drawing on years spent inside appellate chambers and state courts. She has moved between roles in judicial settings and private firms, then into her own practice. That trajectory gives her a perspective shaped by both institutional procedure and direct client representation.

She currently operates the Law Offices of Fakiha Khan and handles appellate and trial matters across Georgia and New York.
