About Ewa M.
Ewa M. Davison brings a rare combination of deep scientific training and courtroom experience. Her academic path began in molecular biology and moved through advanced research before she turned to the law. The result is a practice shaped by two rigorous professions.
She earned an A.B. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in 1993. A decade later she completed a Ph.D. in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003. After several years rooted in scientific research, she enrolled at the University of Washington School of Law and received her J.D. in 2007.
Davison’s background in laboratory science informs the way she approaches legal problems. Complex technical details and dense datasets are familiar terrain. That grounding helps when dissecting patent claims, evaluating expert reports, and mapping out litigation strategy.
Her admissions include the State of Washington, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. Those credentials place her squarely in the federal forums where patent disputes and high-stakes intellectual property issues are decided.
At Fenwick & West LLP she has worked on matters that require both scientific literacy and legal precision. She appears in district court proceedings and handles briefing for appellate work. Her approach to cases is methodical. She breaks complex technologies down into explainable elements and presents the legal consequences in clear terms.
Clients consult her on disputes that touch biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and other technology-driven sectors. She counsels on evidentiary issues, claim construction, and procedural tactics. The combination of a Ph.D. and a J.D. helps when engaging with inventors, scientific experts, and opposing counsel.
She has maintained ties to both the legal and scientific communities throughout her career. Those ties inform her litigation style and the advice she gives to clients. She currently practices at Fenwick & West LLP, where her practice centers on patent litigation, appeals, and counseling for technology and life sciences clients.
