About Everett L.
Everett L. McKeown took a circuitous path into law. He began his academic journey in human resources, earning a B.A. from Saint Leo College in 1988 and an M.S. from Chapman University in 1993. He later added an MBA from the University of Orlando in 1999 before moving into legal studies and completing a J.D. at Barry University in 2006. Those earlier degrees in personnel and business inform the way he approaches client problems today.
His early legal work began in the public sector. In 2006 he served as an assistant state lawyer at the Office of the State Lawyer. That role exposed him to courtroom procedures and administrative filings. He later joined private practice and worked as a lawyer at Bosley & Bratch in 2012. In 2013 he took on a leadership role as managing partner at Veterans Legal Advocates, P.A., a firm that suggests a concentration on veteran-oriented matters. In 2014 he became of counsel at Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A., where he continues to maintain an office affiliation.
McKeown’s military legal experience runs alongside his civilian practice. He served as a command judge advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps starting in 2008. That service placed him in environments where military law, administrative regulation and the needs of service members intersect. The JAG role is one of the recurring threads in his career and helps explain his work with veteran-focused organizations.
Outside of case work he has remained active in local and state groups. Since 2014 he has chaired the Orange County, Florida, Bar Association’s Veterans Committee. He has also served on the board of the Florida Association of Veteran Owned Businesses and held a position on the City of Orlando Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Committee beginning in 2014. Those roles reflect a sustained involvement in the veteran community and in organizations that bridge legal practice and public service.
McKeown is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the District of Columbia and Florida. He balances private and public-facing work, drawing on earlier experience in human resources and business as well as decades of legal practice. He currently concentrates his practice on veterans’ legal issues and matters arising before administrative bodies.
