About Evan
Evan Woodward grew up academically focused and followed a traditional path into law. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 2003. He returned to school almost a decade later and completed his J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2012.
He began his legal career the year he finished law school at The Rothstein Law Office. Over the next several years he moved through a series of positions across the state. In 2014 he worked in the Second Judicial District. The following year he joined the Law Offices of the Public Defender, where he handled defense work. In 2016 he was a lawyer at Caruso Law Offices and in 2018 he took a role at The Law Office of David C. Chavez, LLC. In 2023 he served as a senior associate at Coleman Law Offices. He later founded Woodward Law, LLC, where he practices today.
That sequence of roles exposed him to both public defense and private practice. He has experience preparing cases for trial, managing motions, and navigating courtroom procedures. His admissions include the courts of New Mexico, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the Tenth Circuit, which guide the types of matters he can file and respond to across multiple levels of the judiciary.
Woodward’s memberships include the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. The groups he belongs to reflect his continuing ties to the state’s litigation community and his interest in staying current on trial practice and developments in New Mexico law.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who moved steadily through solo and firm environments, gaining hands-on experience along the way. His work history shows regular courtroom exposure and a mix of criminal defense and civil litigation tasks, shaped in part by his time in public defender work and in private firms handling contested matters.
He founded Woodward Law, LLC to operate a smaller practice that handles contested litigation in the state. He manages client matters, appears in state and federal court when required, and draws on a decade-plus of courtroom experience in New Mexico. He currently represents clients in litigation matters in New Mexico state and federal courts.
