About Erin L
Erin L Emelander combines courtroom experience with years in private practice. She earned a B.S. in Behavioral Science from Grand Valley State University in 2007 and completed her J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2012. During law school she spent time studying legal systems abroad, taking courses at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch and at Monash University Law Chambers in Melbourne in 2010.
Her early career began while she was still an undergraduate and continued into the years after law school. She worked as a litigation analyst at Varnum and held internships with the Ottawa County and Kent County Prosecutor’s Offices. In 2008 she served as a paralegal at the Law Office of Craig A. Jenison, a role that preceded her admission to the bar and launch of her own practice.
After earning her law degree, she opened the Law Office of Erin L. Fisher, PLLC in 2012. The next year she moved into public service as Chief Assistant Prosecutor at the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office. She also taught as an adjunct professor at West Shore Community College in 2013, combining classroom work with trial responsibilities.
In 2014 she joined Springstead Law Office, P.C. as an associate attorney. She became a partner at Emelander Law Office, P.C. in 2015, a role that reflects her shift back into private practice and firm leadership. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Oceana/Newaygo Bar Association, where she maintains local ties to the bench and bar.
Her background spans prosecution, defense, and civil litigation. That mix has informed how she approaches client matters. She has completed continuing legal education in family law through ICLE and has handled cases in county courts across Michigan.
Colleagues describe her as practical in the courtroom and straightforward with clients. She has experience managing cases from intake through trial and has taught legal topics to students in a community college setting. She splits time between courtroom appearances and client counseling in the office.
She maintains a private practice based in Michigan and handles matters that arise in state courts. Her practice concentrates on family law and matters arising in Michigan state courts.
